The SKR team has applied its extensive experience in machine design, robotics, and motion control products to improve the current design from the ground up. The improvements that have emerged in this project have resulted in SKR's new Adaptive Tooling System. This second-generation system solves all the pertinent cost and performance problems that are well-documented at aircraft parts plants that use flexible tooling under gantry mills, waterjets, and other processing machinery.
SKR Automation has studied the current art in flexible tooling systems extensively, in order to understand all the actual and potential failure modes, as well as cost, installation and maintenance issues.

This tooling system is comprised of multiple segments, which are assembled and tested at the factory before shipment and re-assembly on-site.
